AKC Canine Good Citizen Testing
- Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) Testing – This is offered on the night of the 7th night of class @ 7:00 PM. The cost to take the test at the facility is $10. NOTE: You do not have to take the class to take the CGC Test.
- What is CGC? CGC is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs that have good manners at home and in the community. Your dog will need to know the commands and exercises taught in a basic training class to qualify for a passing score on the CGC test. Dogs that pass the CGC test receive a title, certificate from the AKC, and are recorded in the AKC's Canine Good Citizen Archive.
- To receive the CGC Title - Evaluators will be distributing a new CGC Test/Registration Form (that you receive when your dog passes the CGC test) which includes the option to select one of these two choices:
- CGC as a Title - The AKC processing fee is $20. You will receive the CGC certificate, you may use the suffix “CGC” after the dog's name, and CGC will be added to the dog's title record. The dog must be registered or listed with AKC (an AKC number, PAL, or AKC Canine Partners)
- CGC certificate only - The AKC processing fee is $10. CGC will not be added to the dog's title record.
